What will you be doing: The Orthopedic Cast Technician (Sports Medicine) will perform a variety of tasks associated with orthopedic casting procedures under the instruction of a provider in the Clinic. Works independently under the general supervision of a physician and is evaluated by satisfactory correction of orthopedic problems. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities** + Positions patient for procedure and notes the degree of discomfort experienced by the patient. Also instructs patient in cast care, wound care, swelling and how to remove and apply splints. + Performs designated diagnostic tests as directed by provided and assists in follow-up scheduling needs. + Provides product and technical assistance for customers, including product preparation and procedural consultation for physicians and staff as appropriate. Assists with patient education when necessary. + Applies and removes a variety of splints, plaster and fiberglass casts and requests x-rays as indicated under the direction of a physician. Performs special procedures as windowing and wedging,and assists the physician in complex special procedures as removal of pins and application of traction. Responsible for inventory, ordering and receiving of all casting supplies and equipment. + Cleans and re-processes equipment and supplies based on standard work and department guidelines. + Participates in daily huddles and staff meetings. + May assist physician with scribing in the EMR during office exams. **Qualifications** **Educational** + High School Diploma and/or GED. **Certifications Requirements:** + Basic Life Support (BLS). **Experience Requirements:** + Orthopedic Cast Tech or equivalent combination of education and experience in patient care work; experienced in casting and splinting preferred. **Req ID** : 10348 **Working Title** : Orthopedic Cast Technician - Ortho Coastal **Department** : CMCF 1101063 Ortho - Coastal **Business Entity** : Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation **Job Category** : Clinical Operations **Job Specialty** : OR/Anesthesia **Overtime Status** : NONEXEMPT **Primary Shift** : Day **Shift Duration** : 8 hour **Base Pay** : $23.47 - $35.21 Cedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
