Project Archivist, Groton Public Library
Temporary Part-Time, up to 18 hours per week
September 2025 – June 30 th , 2026
One year grant funded position (with possibility of renewal)
SALARY RANGE:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour (Dependent on Qualifications)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Groton Public Library seeks a Project Archivist to perform archival appraisal, arrangement, and description of archival collection(s) in the “Local History” room. The duties will include identifying records in need of preservation or for future digital capture, arranging and rehousing materials into logical grouping within archival enclosures, and physically processing records while applying professional archival standards. The Project Archivist may also assist with creation of historical exhibits and events, including educational tours of the Jabez Smith House, to share the museum’s resources and knowledge with the public. The Project Archivist will also provide direction to local history volunteers and part-time staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will be passionate about history and will have experience with archival collections. This position requires strong time management skills and the ability to complete complex projects within a time constraint. Updates on progress and preparation of formal reports regarding completion of each project phase required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred qualifications include a MLS, MLIS, or MS from an ALA Accredited program of Library and/or Information Science. Coursework in archival administration, prior experience in a museum or special collection/archives setting, and experience with archival management software.
